I think Greg mentioned earlier about a brew day in May. Does everyone still want to do a brew day in May? I know I had suggested a Kolsh but that was before I saw the style of the month. Any thoughts on whether we do a brew day this month or not?
hey mike may was a pretty busy month for all. at the next meeting just shoot for another month i dont care if its hot or not.and glenns is a brew day you just have to make your our if you want to take some home with you since we are making all this beer for a wedding. i will bring plenty of beer and glenn has beer also. were else can you go on saturday and get free beer and great food for free from chief melissa
I ain't hatin' even though you people dog my German American IPA that explodes during fermentation... On a serious note.... I have no problem at all doing it another month. I was just following Dr. Greg's opinion that we should do it before t gets hot. Wish I could make it Saturday. The wife is dragging me to Valdosta this weekend.
Yes, it would have been nice doing another one before it gets hot, but it seems like everybody (including myself) is pretty busy, plus Glenn's brew is this weekend (sorry I can't come) and the beer festival is May also. You and Kirk both want to host, so maybe you two can decide between you which months would work and give some dates at the next meeting.
I know there is a heat issue, but if your brewing outside, does it matter? Many Microbreweries brew in the heat. Humidity can be a factor here. I am used to the Arizona heat, so there was no problem with the humidity causing stuck fermentation and/or yeast pitching. Although I haven't made a batch in GA so I really can't say how it will affect the brew and keeping a sterile environment and also keeping the brewer cool enough.
As for the styles, why not try a cold filter brew, I am sure that everyone has access to an extra fridge to cold process a batch or two. Or even try some of the older techniques, with heat that helps with the fermentation. Just a few suggestions to help.
I don't currently have the space to host a full scale brew day (not with a roof above it anyhow), but once the barn is finished, I would be happy to host some down here in Senoia. That will give access to the barn or the garage for brewing, as well as the grill, the smoker, and the pool for relaxing. We've got plenty of space for all the folks in the club, as we've had barbecues with well over 100 folks. If anyone is ever up for an "impromptu" brew, I am always ready to fire up "the junkyard".
I've not had the opportunity to make a meeting or brew day yet, as they seem to have fallen on my drill weekends thus far, but look forward to making it to one soon.

Okie Dokie....
No comments for a May Brew Day means the club wants to hold off? If we don't do one in May, do we hold off until the end of the summer?
