Contemplating my 1st all grain recipe (by plugging ingredients into Promash) I was wandering...whats the most grain I can expect to fit into my 5 gallon mash tun?
Hey Kirk, have you done you first all grain batch yet? Come on over one day this week if you want to sample my 3 latest beers. A dirty blond, porter, and ipa.
I still havent. In fact Doug discouraged me from trying it yet. I still can't stay on my feet for long periods. I do need to stop by and sample. ;)
I did buy ingredients to do another variation on Dougs "New Water IPA", using no LME. It has extra light DME and a super sized mini-mash of using Pilsner as the base grain. with 8oz of each Victory and Cara Munich 40. I didnt mill the grains because I wasnt sure when I could brew it. August 23 perhaps? (I may need an assist milling it when ever I know I will be brewing). He also gave me brewing salts to add to the mash. I need to read up on what that's all about.
at 1.20 qts. per lb. of
at 1.20 qts. per lb. of grain....the most I'd go for is 12.5 lbs of grain in a 5 gallon cooler
Thanks...
Thanks...
