brew day!

Hello all, still trying to find out who all will be coming to the club brew day this Saturday. I’m still waiting for an answer from my boss to see about using their trailer grill. But if not many people are going to be here then I have a smaller gas grill that has worked for many parties in the past. It would be great to see and get to know more of the club members with me being new to the club and all. For those that can not make it, all is understood. Decatur beer festival is just around the corner. Hope to see you all this weekend.

cheers,

jonny

Hey Johnny thanks for having

Hey Johnny thanks for having us over and cooking! Does your head hurt this morning?

it was a good time

No problem, I was glad to do it. I think I’m stretching my self or at least my liver too thin. The mix between little sleep on top of drinking may have had a bit to do with it. Good times though! Oh, and we went to some friends for vodka and fondue after brewing. I think I’m going to go take a nap.
Cheers,
Jonny

Thank You

Jonny,

Thanks gain for hosting the brew day. We appreciate you opening your home to the club members.

Will,

Thanks for hauling all the equipment across town and getting all the ingredients. Most importantly, thanks for bringing my wort to me. I feel bad about having to leave early....

Will and I were talking about this brew session.....

That stuff did NOT want to be beer. The multiple stuck sparges, slow runnoffs, cavitating pump, our patented "tilt the bucket" gravity feed system, the most excellent vourlauf techniques of some, :-) running out of time, etc. To cap it off ...the guys dropped off my wort in my driveway at darkthirty on Sat. night. I was across the street at a party and figured I would just pitch the yeast "in an hour or so". I went home a few hours later to pitch the yeast. When I got to my carboy ....I found the entire carboy covered in ants. Luckily....I don't think any got in the wort. I washed them off the carboy with a garden hose and pitched the yeast starter. The next morning I had activity.

as i always say ipas,

as i always say ipas, blondes, pale ales, pretty much any style except oatmeal stouts do not have stuck sparges. no just kidding the oatmeal was a real bear i think next time we do a dry stout or use flaked barley instead. i would like to see the difference in false bottom verses braid. false bottom has bigger holes but mash not as clean as braid.also i had trouble milling grains but we prevailed.

Brewing, Vodka, Fondue!!!

Does life get any better? Great job Johnny. Also, thanks to Annie and Lucky for putting up with us.
