Subject: Homebrew Competition at Steinbeck's
Hello,
My name is Andy Gonzales and I am the chef at Steinbeck’s in the Oakhurst sector of Decatur. I wanted to reach out to the directors of the local brewing societies to let you all know that Steinbeck’s will be hosting a homebrew competition in conjunction with our Annual Chili Cook-off. The event will be held on November 21st and will be open to the public. Our goal is to raise the profile of local beer and to bring the beer community together in a more layman friendly setting.
A trophy and a gift certificate will be awarded to the winner. This is the first year that we will be doing this, so I am uncertain as to whether we will have enough entries to separate into styles. I will know more in the coming weeks as to the organization of the contest and all of the rules, should numbers dictate more specific rules (being aficionados, any input you could give us would be more than welcome.) Each contestant would only need to bring enough for the judges to taste and at least one gallon of beer to be given away to the public as samples (as you know, we cannot legally charge for the beer.) Votes will be tallied from both the public and the judges and a winner will be declared. We will be recruiting judges from the beer and restaurant industries and I will use our contacts with professional brewers that we feature here at Steinbeck’s (Atlanta Brewing, He'Brew, Victory, Terrapin, etc.)
All I need from you is to alert your members as to the opportunity and to give them the information as it comes. They can register directly with the bar, they can become Friend’s of Steinbeck’s through Facebook or they can email me at ninthechef@gmail.com. Our phone number is 404-373-1116. If you have any questions or feedback, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your time and you assistance.
Sincerely,
Andy Gonzales
Chef-Steinbeck’s
Post script: I realize that time is pressing to begin a beer fermentation to make the November 21st event. So, if you could pass this along as soon as possible it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, again.
