Sanctioning
Now we're talking. Spring is in full swing and brewing in the sunshine is on our mind. Hopefully the April showers subsided enough for us to brew some Belgian style beers. This month we're focused on Belgian and French Ales. It's a great time of year to introduce others to home brewing. After all May 5th is National Homebrew Day. Check out www.beertown.org for more details on that. If you're not already an AHA member you should consider joining. There are some great perks with membership and the organization works with lawmakers to change many of the outdated laws across the U.S.
Ciders and Perrys will be the featured brew for the April meeting. I'm sure it will be quite a different experience for us to try bringing our own examples. There is a great podcast from The Brewing Network specifically on ciders. Here is a direct link to the podcast. It's worth listening to if you have the time. There is also a shorter podcast on brewing your own at this link as well. It is the Jamil Show.
March features English Pale Ales so lets get to brewing our favorite recipes to have ready in time. It's always better when we have home brewed versions to critique and break down. It's pretty easy to find good commercial examples in our area. If you live on the Stockbridge or Henry County side of the world, a great store for good selection is the Stockbridge Bottle Shop.
They are located at:
5039 North Henry Boulevard, Suite B
Stockbridge, GA 30281.

The February club meeting will feature Barleywines. If you have one made, be sure to bring it. If not pick up a good commercial example to share. Most Barleywines are best if aged a minimum of 6 to 8 months and even better if left for 12 months plus. It may be interesting to taste a young Barleywine for comparison if someone wishes to open one up for the betterment of the group.
