I mentioned this at the meeting. I wanted to follow up with a post so people who want to try it can find it easily.

I used it Thursday and found it to be invaluable.
I am thinking of buying a few hop rhizomes and was wondering which ones to get. Basically I am looking for a popular kind that is in a majority of beer styles. It doesn't matter if it's for dry hopping, aroma or for the main brew. Just looking for a popular one to start with and possibly use or even share with others if growing a different kind.
So far I see Cascade, and Williamette as possible candidates. Not sure that SAAZ will grow here and is available.
My other question is did or has anyone bought any hop rhizomes from Midwest or is there a better place to buy them from?
So I was listening to the Sunday Session from this past Sunday. It was random show broadcast from the Downtown Joes where a tatoo artist was on site doing hop grenades on Beevo etc...
Any how, a certain brew master from a brew pub that puts his beer in cans came on about an hour into the "show". Among the many things he mentioned... Well, he specifically said he was "literally afraid for his life" at the Decatur Beer Festival, do to some wacko BN listeners who "hate Doc".
Rock on Will and Lamar!!!
I build a water filter today. Bought a $37 Whirlpool filter from Lowes (Thanks Will!) and a few dollars of miscelanious parts.
The 3 gallon Rubbermaid cooler that I'm using as a carrier was found on the side of Mt Carmel Road, near my house. It was full of mud, but nothing a little B-Brite couldn't handle. Missing the lid, this seemed like a good use for it.

I'm not sure when tickets go on sale but I'm going.
I was thinking, maybe get a group together and getting a TAXI
Let me know.

Made an ESB yesterday. The starting potential alcohol is 8%. (WOW) It's not going to be very hoppy since it only has an ounce of Target (60m) and an ounce of US Goldings hops (0m). (Sure, I could have added more... but I prefer to make this one per the recipe the 1st time). I suppose this is typical for English beers, other than IPAs? Since I've never made a beer as 'big' as this before I'm worried that the yeast will give out once the alcohol level gets too high. That'll make it too sweet for my taste, with so little hops anyway. I can always re-pitch it, I suppose.
